Designing Homes That Look After the People Inside Them

The Passive House Way is a consulting practice built around one simple idea: your home should support comfort, health and everyday life — not just on good days, but throughout the year.

Hi, I am Jakub Matyska

CERTIFIED PASSIVE HOUSE CONSULTANT AND FOUNDER OF THE PASSIVE HOUSE WAY.

Growing up in Europe gave me an early appreciation for homes designed around comfort and energy performance. After moving to Australia, I was struck by how many homes struggle with draughts, dampness, uncomfortable temperatures and high energy bills.

Becoming a father made the importance of fresh air and reliable comfort feel even more personal. These aren’t luxuries; they shape everyday life.

I founded The Passive House Way to help homeowners and project teams across Gippsland make informed building-performance decisions, combining established building-science methods with practical, clear guidance.

  • A Certified Passive House Consultant (PHI)
  • Training in PHPP modelling for new builds and retrofits
  • A member of the Australian Passive House Association
  • Trained in airtightness, thermal-bridge mitigation, and high-performance envelope design
  • Collaborating with local builders, designers, and suppliers across Gippsland

The Principles That Guide Every Project

Wellbeing at Home

Comfort, fresh air and stable indoor conditions should be considered from the start, as part of how a home is designed to support everyday life.

Climate Responsibility

Good design can reduce avoidable energy demand while responding to the local climate, site conditions and the needs of the people who live there.

Peace of Mind

I explain the options, evidence and trade-offs clearly. You remain in control of the decisions, with guidance shaped around your priorities and budget.
